Will the Twilight Saga's New Moon movie be better than the original Twilight?

You might as well ask a Twilight fan who they love more Edward Cullen or Robert Pattinson! But what we do know for sure is that New Moon is going to be a huge box-office hit.

Twilight brought in an estimated $70 million its first opening weekend and New Moon should have no problem breaking that mark.

In case you have been living under a rock, the Twilight movies are based from the best-selling books by Stephenie Meyer. There are four books in the Twilight Saga: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. All were on the New York Time's Bestseller List and all have been given the green light to be shown on the big screen.

New Direction in New Moon

The second installment of the Twilight Saga New Moon will have a new look as it will have a different director in Chris Weitz. Weitz is most notable known for directing The Golden Compass (2007) and About a Boy(2002). Catherine Hardwicke directed the original Twilight movie but due to time constraints and not wanting to rush the direction of the film, she did not want to commit and turned down directing the sequel leaving the producers to go in a different direction.

From looking at the trailers, New Moon does have a different 'feel' it to. As many people might not be aware Twilight was really an indie film, produced by Summit Entertainment. So there wasn't a huge budget (a little over $30 million) to produce the movie. New Moon on the other hand has a much larger budget (can't confirm but heard of over $50 million).

New Moon Storyline

New Moon picks up where Twilight left off as Bella celebrates her 18th birthday with Edward and the Cullens. But an unfortunate event happens which puts Bella in harm's way. Feeling extremely guilty about putting Bella in danger yet again Edward feels that he could never forgive himself if he were to ever seriously hurt Bella- so Edward decides to leave Bella away from the apparent danger that follows her when she is with him.

Amidst all of this Bella goes into a deep depression as she feels she is alone without her beau Edward.

Enter Jacob Black

But then comes fresh-faced friend Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) to the rescue. Bella develops a strong friendship with Jacob but still cannot get Edward out of her mind. But as time goes on she does realize how special Jacob is ..... until Jacob goes through a transformation himself and is forced to keep his distance from Bella as well.

Bet on New Moon Being Better than Twilight

You better believe that the Twilight Saga's New Moon will be a better movie than Twilight. From the new director, the increased budget, the intriguing storyline (with Edward having competition in Jacob), the addition of new characters, including the Quileute and vicious vampire Jane (played by Dakota Fanning), you can believe this is going to be the biggest hit of 2009. It will keep Twilight fans thirsty for more until Eclipse comes out next year.
