Plenty of Fish Dating Review

Plenty of Fish is a free online dating site where people can sign up and chat with other members in hopes of finding a companion, friend, or maybe more. I am writing this review based on my own personal experience from the website. While I absolutely love the free aspect of the dating site there are definitely some precautions to take when you are trying to find someone. And I'll try my best to give it from the perspective of both a males (that's me) and the horror stories I have heard from females. I will even throw in some tips to help people hopefully have a good online experience on the site.

Once you have signed up for Plenty of Fish you will want to fill-out your profile and indicate what you're looking for. I won't bore you with the "how tall are you", "do you smoke", "do you drink" questions. I'll get to the section which could make or break your online dating experience: your intent! You will have the options below when filling out your profile-what are you looking for?

• Hang Out - Only do if you really do not want to meet anyone on this site (except the freaks!) It will show a non-committal on your part and you probably won't get too far.
• Long-term - Very strong and will increase your chances of getting a response if someone is really seriously looking as well.
• Dating - it's probably the middle of the road selection to check off. Will show that you are casually looking and open to a relationship if you hit it off.
• Friends - I would not recommend. Who ever wants to be in the 'friend zone'?!
• Intimate Encounter - This is also for the freaks out there. I am sure they are a lot of guys who want to fill this out but you will greatly decrease your chances of actually getting laid or even meeting someone if you place this on there. Even if there are girls with the intent of just having sex they will most likely not make themselves appear slutty so you are wasting your time. Now, they are some that may check this off, but I would like to think they are more on the freaky-side and probably don't look that great to begin with if they are putting themselves out there like that. So choose at your own risk!

Then you have a section for what your intent is:

• I'm looking for Casual dating/No Committment
• I want to date but nothing serious
• I want a relationship
• I am putting in serious effort to find someone
• I am serious and I want to find someone to marry

For some reason I believe most people look at the above "what are you looking for?" than this intent section. I would just play it safe and type in "I want a relationship". You don't want to scare someone if they are just testing the site out and they read you want to get married or do not want to seem like you're just on there to get laid by putting casual dating or nothing serious.

This all depends on whether you are a guy or a girl. I will tell you from my experience what to expect (a guy's) and then from what stories I have heard from girls.

A Guy's perspective on Plenty of Fish

Well, you can expect a lot of competition. Let's face it, girls have the upper hand on this one fellas. They are getting emails left and right all day, everyday. So they don't have to search a lot because they have their in-boxes full every time they log-in to the dating site. This can be a good and bad thing. Bad thing for us guys is that we have to be unique in order to get the attention of the girls on Plenty of Fish. Being attractive obviously helps but you may need more than that to get the attention of the females. The first thing you want to do is make your headline in the email stick out. Don't just say 'Hello' or 'How are you doing?'. Be original. Read the girl's profile and see what makes her click. See what her interests are. Ask a question that shows that you've actually taken the time to see what she's about and not just stare at her pictures and think about what she would like look naked.

A Girls' perspective on Plenty of Fish

Just as I have written above you can very well expect a lot of emails. Just the single fact that you are a girl should inundate you with a plethora of emails. But unfortunately, quantity does not equal quality. You should expect a lot of emails just saying 'whats' up' or 'how are you doing' and at times just downright lewd! And I don't totally blame the guys at times. I mean why write a novel to you for you to possibly dismiss theirs because you have another 20-30 a day to read. So they put in a good 5-10 mins writing something snazzy up and you read it for 2 secs just to move on? But I digress. Girls you always have the great opportunity to get a lot of guys show you pictures of abs, muscles, and other parts which you may or may not want to see. Unfortunately that's what you get from a free site. Also, you have to weed through all of your emails and try and detect if these guys are as honest as they appear to be. There are a lot of cheating husbands, boyfriends out there looking or something on the side. So be careful and cautious when you are emailed by a dude. Try and see if there are any unusual habits or call outs. Like does he not a picture? Does he only email you at certain times? Does he want to meet you in a private location? (which is creepy at any rate).

Well, that's just my two cents with the free online dating site. POF can be very addicting and may cause you to lose some sleep. You may even be tempted to check the site out while you are at work. But whatever it is you're looking for you should find it every entertaining and definitely a time-killer if you are single and ready to mingle.
